Eskell, a hybrid of the owners’ first names, is a home goods, fine jewelry, custom furniture, and beauty and wellness boutique located in the Bucktown neighborhood of Chicago. It opened in 2005 in Wicker Park before moving to an 1800-square-foot flagship store less than a block north of the CTA Blue Line Western “L” station.
Kelly Whitesell started the boutique with her best friend and fellow Indiana native, Elizabeth Del Castillo. They are known for their contemporary, timeless sensibility, which is reflected in the boutique’s easy-to-navigate layout and eclectic buys a la Anthropologie and Urban Outfitters.
“The philosophy of Eskell is deeply threaded in that of personal style. Design in all elements of life from clothing to home decor fulfills one’s sense of self-expression to the fullest.”
The apothecary offers best sellers (and some of my favorites) such as the Rose Quartz Facial Roller, which is known to increase circulation for reduced puffiness (tip: put the roller in the fridge for a cooling effect and it will also help with skin tightening!), P.F. Candle Co. charcoal-based incense sticks that offer a variety of pleasant aromas for the home and the Naked Lip Balm, containing beeswax, coconut oil, shea butter, cocoa butter and olive oil to heal and bring restoration to those dry lips! Eskell’s newly launched online store also carries a selection of the owners’ favorite items and gifts, including exclusive pieces you can only find on their website.
If you want to make your home look Instagram-worthy, then stop into Eskell for some added flair with modern-boho furniture, lamps, textiles, ceramics, and shelf fillers in one of Chicago’s trendiest neighborhoods.
